University Advancement is proud to report that the UMass Dartmouth community raised $6,140,188 in new gifts and commitments, plus an additional $3.1 million in state grants during fiscal year 2022.

鈥淭hese funds represent the commitment of our alumni, faculty, staff, community, and partners to support UMass Dartmouth students and programs,鈥 said Dean Hickey, vice chancellor for University Advancement. 鈥淭heir generosity allows us to ensure that more students are able to continue to study at UMass Dartmouth, and creates opportunities to enhance the academic and student programs at this national research university.鈥

Donors of UMass Dartmouth find inspiration in the countless stories of students who benefit from financial aid and are motivated to achieve their goals. UMassD鈥檚 high-quality academic program and affordability drive a student鈥檚 decision to attend UMassD, but, for many, figuring out how to subsidize a college education is still a challenge. Donor support makes an education at UMassD possible.

鈥淵ou get a phenomenal education at UMass Dartmouth, academically and socially,鈥 said Joe Cozzolino 鈥87, supporter and treasurer of the UMassD Foundation Board. 鈥淯MassD gives that to so many students, especially those on the SouthCoast. Any support you give adds up to helping a student complete their education. It鈥檚 so important to help make that happen for them.鈥

The Corsair Challenge, UMassD鈥檚 annual 24-hour day of giving, is an essential part of uniting the community in the spirit of philanthropy and Corsair pride to raise funds for current students. This year, alumni, faculty, staff, families, friends, and students raised over $109,000鈥攖he largest ever during the Corsair Challenge. Funds raised during the annual giving day go directly to the donor鈥檚 designated fund of choice, making it a great way to make an immediate impact on programs, departments, and athletics teams.

鈥淭his annual giving day brings out the best of UMass Dartmouth,鈥 said Director of Annual Giving Shannon Wood. 鈥淚t is inspiring to see so many members of our community donating to their favorite areas of the university.鈥

Students are grateful for this critical support from donors. 鈥淯MassD students work hard. We have a vision for ourselves, and we have goals. Removing some of the financial burden allows us to focus on those goals,鈥 said Kyle Furtado 鈥23.
