UMass Alum and September 11th Compensation Master to Speak at UMass Club

Aug. 28, 2006: On Monday, September 11th, the five-year anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center, Kenneth R. Feinberg, who served as Special Master of the Federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, will be a guest speaker at the 性闻联播 Club in downtown Boston.

The author of "What is Life Worth? The Unprecedented Effort to Compensate the Victims of 9/11," Mr. Feinberg will speak about developing the regulations governing the administration of the fund, including evaluating applications, determining appropriate compensation and disseminating awards. The event will begin at noon at 225 Franklin Street, 33rd Floor.

An attorney and a leading expert in mediation and alternative dispute resolution, he is also a Brockton native and a 1967 graduate of UMass-Amherst. He served as Special Counsel to the United States Senate Committee on the judiciary from 1975 to 1980 and as Administrative Assistant to Senator Edward M. Kennedy from 1977 to 1979.

He was one of three arbitrators selected to determine the fair market value of the original Zapruder film of the Kennedy assassination and was one of two arbitrators selected to determine the allocation of legal fees in the Holocaust slave labor litigation.
